Did someone say, "free skincare samples"??
Leave it to me to find and attend an event that is solely about sampling expensive ass skin care products. Last weekend, I attended the Byrdie Beauty Lab pop-up where I got my entire life sampling beauty products by cult-favorite brands like Chantecaille, Sunday Riley, SK II, Tata Harper and La Prairie. If you know me personally, you probably know that I am the self-proclaimed "Sample Queen;" if there is a product I like (and unwilling to pay for), I will make it my mission to get as many samples as it takes to convince myself to buy it. With that being said, of course this event was heaven for me!
Nestled off the less glamorous side of SoHo, aka Canal Street, is the week long pop-up hosted by by Byrdie Beauty, a skincare and beauty blog that features the latest in products and trends. Upon arrival, we grabbed our complimentary totes and went ham. I had been stalking their Insta stories since the announcement of the launch so I knew exactly what products I needed to get my hands on, and trust me...I came, I saw, and sis, I conquered. I got so many samples that it got to the point where the staff had to go around asking that everyone get 2 of each product. Unfortunately for them, I had already made my rounds at least 3 times and got about 5 of everything. It came to the point where the pre-made samples weren't cutting it, so shout out to the security guard who put me on to the fact that you could make your own samples! He's the real MVP. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and I may just go back before it closes on the 15th idc idc idc.
While on that side of SoHo I decided to pop into the Glossier "Glossier You" fragrance concept store. Glossier, a rising beauty and skincare line whose branding is literal aesthetic goals, has been taking the beauty industry by storm and with the recent launch of their fragrance Glossier You, has opened an all red concept store next door to their showroom. It was a full sensory experience, from the slight anxiety inducing ASMR whispers coming from the walls to the lush red interior. Naturally I took the opportunity to catch a few flicks, thanks to my roommate Cristina. The premise behind the fragrance is that it smells differently on everyone, which is to be said about every other perfume on the market, but somehow the perfumers behind the scent really made it smell completely different on each person! There was a huge difference between the way it smelt on me and my roommate. To me, it smelt slightly fruity on Cristina and woodier on me. I think it would be a great layering fragrance due to its subtlety. If you're in the area, or in NYC in general, stop by and give it a sniff! Or if you're just in need of a great backdrop for an outfit flick.
